Basic Overview

10. October 2017/in Design, Production /by Tobias Kosubek

Basic Overview

About this course

Our Additive Manufacturing starter course addresses everyone who comes in contact with Additive Manufacturing technology, such as purchasers, machine operators, project managers, and designers. The purpose of this starter course is to impart a fundamental understanding of chances, applications and limitations of Additive Manufacturing. This training will enable participants to recognize the potentials of this innovative technology and how to make use of them. The course conveys machinery, materials, and process know-how of Laser Beam Melting technology, as well as essential knowledge on designing additive manufactured parts. Based on a case study, the previously taught design rules will be applied in practice.

What will I be taught?

  • Introduction to Additive Manufacturing (plastic and metal)
  • Basics of Laser Beam Melting / Selective Laser Sintering
  • Material properties of Additive Manufacturing (metal)
  • Design guidelines for Laser Beam Melting
  • Design to cost
  • Case studies

Your advantages

  • Compact introduction to 3D printing: We convey in one day what others spread over several days
  • Scientifically based and practical know-how
  • Specialists in their field of expertise answer your detailed questions
  • Everything from a single source: Your start on the way to becoming an “additive leader”

Who are the target groups?

  • Designers

Hands-On Training

7. September 2017/in Design, Production /by bureauoberhoff

Hands-On Training

About this course

From the construction of a training-part, machine preparations, unpacking of machine, to post processing of the printed part, here you will be introduced to the entire process of Additive Manufacturing. The goal of this training is to acquire a deep and practical understanding of the process chain of Additive Manufacturing. In hands-on exercises the participants learn the basics of data preparation, machine operation, quality assurance and post processing of Laser Beam Melting. At the end of the training, the participants can take their pre and post processed parts home with them.

What will I be taught?

  • Basic introduction to machine operation
  • Insight into configuration options and effects of process parameters
  • Data preparation of CAD data in Materialize Magics
  • Removal of support structures and quality assurance of parts

Your advantages

  • Minimization of costs for misprints
  • Optimization of efficiency through correct part alignment
  • Interdisciplinary approach by combining the knowledge of software and 3D printing expert

Who are the target groups?

  • Constructors
  • Designers
  • Specialist engineers
  • Data preparers

What prior knowledge is necessary?

  • Basic Overview Training or knowledge of content of training through at least one year practical expierence in 3D printing
